Reddit Thread Exposes Rare Chick Born With Four Legs Instead of Wings, Theorizing It Could Be The Next Step In Chicken Evolution

It's not every day you get to see a literal evolution of an animal, but today is one of those days. An interesting (and funny) Reddit thread found a chick that was born with four legs instead of two legs and two wings. Chickens are practically flightless anyway, so this seems like an advantageous evolutionary trait for them to adopt. Chickens can be pretty cute, but we have to admit, it's a bit weird to see a chicken with two extra legs.

We hope this little chick gets to live a long, full, and healthy life. But, with all new traits, they can come with some downsides. Maybe the chick's body built to handle the shifting of balance onto four feet, or something else we couldn't even imagine.     It looks like a….frog? Or a dog with a really big torso. It looks so weird, but so cool! Like something out of Harry Potter (kind of like a gryphon), but it must be so confused. It's okay, little chick, different is beautiful.

    This is true, their wings are nearly useless, let's get rid of them! Although, they're not as cute with an extra pair of legs. They kind of look like fuzzy frogs, and that's not a super cute look. But, evolution is about more than just looking cute!

Now it just needs to be a selected for trait/ actually has some sort of advantage in survival, and the genes need to spread sufficiently to a portion of the population.
